Hong Kong: I had to get up and out early for my trip to Hong Kong. The flight departed at 6:00 AM, so I had a taxi pick me up at 4:00 AM. It was a good thing I did to as the lines at the airport were quite long for document check and security. However, unlike my missed flight from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, I was onboard when this one left.
The flight to Hong Kong was without incident and immigration / customs was easy. The interesting thing coming through the immigration area was the set of guards monitoring infrared cameras to check for sick people and the other guards randomly walking up towards people to take their temperature with an IR based thermometer pointed at their forehead.
The express train from the airport to central Hong Kong was fast and the subway system is impressive. They have a card to pay for the subway (Octopus Card) that can also be used to pay in some stores and restaurants.
After getting to the apartment, I decided to settle in for the day and save exploration until after my son Rob shows up tomorrow morning. So, no pictures today.
